MEET OUR YAC MEMBERS

Jesse

What do you enjoy about being a part of the YAC?
Being around like-minded people who want what’s best for the youth of Wangaratta. Training opportunities, gaining meeting skills eg. chairing or note taking. Seeing and listening to other ideas and input. Most importantly seeing how NESAY integrates themselves into the community with engaging Families and young people.

Why did you choose NESAY?
I originally came to NESAY through the program L2P. Once I had completed that, then I was asked to join the steering community where I also partake and chair in. Around the same time, I was asked to join the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC for Short)

My favourite quote is:
One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it’s worth watching. – Gerard Way

Shayla

What do you enjoy about being a part of the YAC?
As a person who gets anxious in public and especially in a room with a group of people, it is an amazing, fun and safe environment to just be yourself in. The YAC offers amazing opportunities and encourages me to put myself out there and feel included.

Why did you choose NESAY?
I was first introduced to NESAY in 2019, I was welcomed with an amazing person who helped me up until 2022. The team at NESAY are nothing but supportive and are one of my main inspirations on why I want to become a support worker to help other teens in need.

 My favourite quote is:
“Everything happens for a reason and that reason causes change. Sometimes it hurts, sometimes it’s hard, but in the end it’s all for the best” -author unknown

Rachelle

What do you enjoy about being a part of the YAC?
My favourite thing about being a part of the YAC, is being able to give back to the community, while enhancing my leadership skills.

Why did you choose NESAY?
I was offered the opportunity to branch out as part of another program through NESAY.
